8 Unique Date Ideas to Try Instead of Dinner and a Movie

Because you’ve both been to that restaurant enough times already

Sometimes, the best dates aren’t the ones where you sit across from each other trying to keep a conversation going. It’s the ones where you’re both doing something in silence, and the silence doesn’t feel deafening, but instead it feels soft and peaceful. Or when you’re doing something together, laughing, figuring things out, getting a little messy together. So if you’re looking for something that feels a lot less predictable, these eight spots around KL and PJ offer exactly that.

ITCHY HANDS STUDIO

Itchy Hands Studio is a small, home-based space, and you can tell from the moment you walk in. The studio itself carries a lot of soul and it doesn’t feel like a class, it doesn’t feel commercial. Not in a room full of people, not under bright fluorescent lights. Just you and your partner, sitting side by side, making ceramic pieces together. It almost feels like you’re at home, just doing something with your hands. Their ceramic charm workshops are especially cute, but honestly, it’s more about the feeling than what you make. And what makes the place even better than it already is, is being warmly greeted by not just one, but five of their studio cats while you’re busy trying to make something cute.

Beary Potter Studio is a bit more structured, but in a comforting way. You can do a one-day class or go for something longer, and they guide you through everything from wheel throwing to hand-building, all of it. It’s the kind of date where you both have to slow down a bit, because you can’t rush clay. So you end up just sitting there, focusing, occasionally helping each other fix something that didn’t turn out right. It’s not the loudest or most exciting date, but it feels steady. And that’s honestly what we all ask for in a relationship, isn’t it?

You pick everything, so it feels quite personal from the start, and maybe just a little bit scary. But at the end of it, you’re left with something you can actually wear. Something that holds a memory, not just a moment. And there’s just something that has a beautiful meaning to it. Especially when it’s something you made for each other.
