Get to Know Apple’s Latest Launches: iPhone Duo, iPhone 18 Pro, AirPods 5, and More

It’s that time of year again! Apple has announced its latest series of devices in front of an audience who has been eagerly anticipating their arrival. Held at Apple Park, this year’s Apple Event keynote was aptly titled ‘Surprise and Shine’ and marked CEO John Ternus’ first time on stage in his new role. During his appearance, Ternus and his team introduced us to the latest additions to the iPhone family—incuding the iPhone 18 Pro and brand new iPhone Duo—as well as the AirPods 5, Apple Watch Series 12, and Apple Watch Ultra 4.

This year’s launches have brought us more than the usual round of faster chips and shinier displays. Ready to learn a little more about these new arrivals, what’s actually worth noting, and what we think you’d like? Keep reading below!

Commanding the spotlight at this year’s Apple Event is the iPhone Duo, Apple’s first-ever foldable iPhone. It opens up into a 7.6-inch inner display that give the iPhone its biggest screen yet, while the 5.4-inch outer display keeps things pocket-friendly when closed. Open it up and you’ve got yourself a rather large canvas for gaming, drawing, watching videos, multitasking, and more. You name it, you’ve got it supersized. Once closed, the iPhone Duo turns into your run-of-the-mill everyday phone roughly the size of your passport.

Powered by the brand new A20 Pro chip, the phone is more than just a display that folds. It introduces a completely redesigned iOS 27 experience that was built just for its two-screen setup. The Split View function lets two apps run simultaneously side by side, marking another first for iPhone, while the foldable design also brings with it some new camera tricks such as the outer display acting as a preview when taking photos using the rear camera. There is also a 48MP Fusion camera system, a new under-display FaceTime camera, and soon-to-arrive Apple Pencil support.

Durability is also a major plus point with the iPhone Duo, especially considering its screen-covered build. It comes with a Grade 5 titanium frame, Ceramic Shield 2 on the outer display, and an IP68 rating for water and dust resistance. As for the hinge, it has been engineered in a way that allows for a crease-free viewing experience, thanks to its more than 100 components. The dual-battery setup allows for all-day use, even with the demands of a dual-screen configuration. In other words, the iPhone Duo is worth your attention, coming in as an entirely new category of iPhone that promises to change your smartphone experience for the better.

Pricing and availability: The iPhone Duo starts at RM9,499 with 256GB, 512GB, 1TB, and 2TB storage capacities. It is available in star white and night sky. Pre-orders begin October 16, with availability from October 23.

The new iPhone 18 Pro lineup has made an impactful arrival with the biggest upgrades to the Pro formula in camera, performance, and battery life—all thanks to the A20 Pro chip. While the Dynamic Island may be smaller, its battery life increase is the biggest ever seen on an iPhone.

The headlining feature is undoubtedly its camera with the 48MP Fusion Main camera leading the pack. While it may appear to be similar to its predecessor on the surface, it is anything but. A new variable aperture feature arrives, giving users more control over how much light enters the lens, directly affecting how the photos turn out. Great for anyone who likes getting more hands-on with their mobile photography, the other Pro controls also bring extra flexibility to the experience alongside upgraded Photographic Styles and video tools.

With the A20 Pro Chip, the iPhone 18 Pro series comes with a series of internal upgrades, including a new-generation vapour chamber to deliver Apple’s highest sustained performance in an iPhone yet. Its new iOS 27 experience combined with Siri AI and Apple Intelligence will make your iPhone 18 Pro experience feel more like an intelligent personal hub rather than your casual smartphone. Finally, its new burgundy finish joins the black, silver, and glacier colourways, adding a little elegant personality to the lineup.

Pricing and availability: iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max start at RM5,499 and RM5,999 respectively in 256GB, 512GB, 1TB, and 2TB capacities. Pre-orders begin September 12, with availability starting September 18.

Apple’s new AirPods 5 might look familiar but there’s a lot more going on behind the case. Active Noise Cancellation has finally arrived to Apple’s most affordable earphones, with the ability to remove up to 50 per cent more external noise than its predecessor. Live Translation also makes its AirPods debut, using Apple Intelligence to help users communicate across languages seamlessly.

There are two versions to choose from: the standard AirPods 5 or AirPods 5 with Wireless Charging Case. The latter offers up to five more hours of listening with ANC on a single charge and up to 22 hours with the case. Both also come with improved dust, sweat, and water resistance, making the AirPods 5 a very capable everyday companion for all things listening.

Pricing and availability: The AirPods 5 is priced at RM599, while the AirPods 5 with Wireless Charging Case is priced at RM699. Pre-orders for both begin on September 11, with availability in stores starting September 18.

Apple Watch Series 12 is less about adding flashy features and more about fine-tuning the parts that make it a better companion for your health and wellness tracking. At the centre of this update is the new Health Sensing System, which uses the new S11 chip to deliver higher-frequency heart rate and heart-rate variability measurements. The data from this goes into a Readiness score that gives users a snapshot of how prepared they would be for the upcoming day, considering their overall health, sleep, and recovery.

With this new Apple Watch, the company has also introduced what it is calling Audio Intelligence. The new Series 12 can recognise important sounds like alarms, doorbells, and even babies crying to alert users of urgent matters. Additionally, Live Rewind can help users recall something that was said up to 15 seconds ago, while Siri Recap helps create summaries of conversations that can be reviewed later. As for hardware, the Apple Watch Series 12 comes with new finishes, including dark bronze, black, light gold, and space grey aluminium, as well as radiant gold and natural titanium. To up the ante, Apple has also introduced new ceramic options in pearl white and night blue.

Pricing and availability: Prices start at RM1,799. Pre-orders will begin on September 11, with availability in stores beginning September 18.

APPLE WATCH ULTRA 4

For those who demand more from their smartwatch, the Apple Watch Ultra 4 is the ultimate companion for users who live on the more rugged side of life. While still a great addition to your daily device rotation, the Apple Watch Ultra 4 brings an adventure-leaning element to the Apple Watch experience. It gets the same new S11 chip and Health Sensing System as the Series 12, but adds a little more endurance and sturdiness to its build.

The Apple Watch Ultra 4’s biggest selling point remains to be its battery life, built for longer journeys and workouts. Other than that, it also arrives with a larger display, more outdoor-focused features, and the same Audio Intelligence tools introduced with the Apple Watch Series 12. Overall, users will get more health data, more intelligence, more battery life, and more reliability.

Pricing and availability: Prices start at RM3,699. Pre-orders are now available and in-store availability will start on September 18.
