Dongfeng Expands Its EV Line-Up In Malaysia With The 007 And VIGO

MAlaysia’s ev landscape just got more interesting

The shift to electric doesn’t have to be abrupt. In a market that has quickly evolved from curiosity, electric mobility in Malaysia has entered a new chapter. And Dongfeng intends to be part of that conversation. Earlier this month, Dongfeng introduced two new electric models into the Malaysian market — the Dongfeng 007 and the Dongfeng VIGO. Two models, both distinct in character, but aligned with one intention: to be a part of how Malaysians move, travel and live.

Dongfeng 007

The Dongfeng 007 isn’t here to blend in. With its sleek liftback silhouette, this sedan looks sporty from one angle, and modern from others. For drivers who are looking for something that you can look good pulling up to a business meeting or a birthday dinner, this one’s for you.

Performance wise, the Dongfeng 007 is definitely not playing safe. The 007 does 0 to 100 km per hour in 3.9 seconds, with a driving range of up to 650 km. Fast charging gets it to 80 percent in just 11 minutes, which makes range anxiety nonexistent. Inside, it leans heavily into tech. The liftback design also makes it more practical than a typical sedan, especially if you are someone who somehow always has too many things in your boot.

Expected to be priced from RM161,000 after launch incentives, the 007 positions itself as an electric sedan that balances power with everyday usability. It does not shout about being electric. It just simply performs.

If the 007 is about momentum, the Dongfeng VIGO is about adaptability. This electric SUV was designed with daily life in mind. Designed as a compact electric SUV, the VIGO focuses on how people actually use their cars. It has a 500 litre boot, plus an additional 72 litre hidden compartment. The 2,715 mm wheelbase means it feels spacious without being oversized. It is compact enough for city parking but roomy enough for road trips and grocery hauls.

One of its standout features is the “Heaven and Earth Gate” split tailgate, which can hold up to 150 kg. It basically turns the rear into a mini platform, useful for camping setups, tailgates, or even just sitting with friends during an outdoor gathering. It is a small detail that says a lot about who this car is for.

Charging is quick here too, with DC fast charging up to 167 kW that gets the battery to 80 percent in about nine minutes. It also comes equipped with Level 2 ADAS and a 540 degree panoramic camera system with a transparent chassis view, making tight parking spots less stressful than it has to be.

The VIGO is expected to start from RM100,000 after its launch discount, which positions it as one of the more accessible entries into the EV SUV space.

With the 007 and VIGO, Dongfeng’s first move into Malaysia is not defined by spectacle.

No big gestures. No unnecessary noise. Just electric mobility shaped around how people already live. Together, they suggest that the future of motoring in Malaysia is no longer a distant proposition. It is already parked at the doorstep.
