From Runway To Decanter: The Launch Of The Couture Blend In Singapore

A Collaboration That Dresses Whisky a Little Differently

Rare whisky has officially taken its turn on the runway. Johnnie Walker Vault and Balmain’s Creative Director, Olivier Rousteing, have teamed up for a collaboration that doesn’t just put whisky and couture in the same room, it insists they stand side by side.

The Couture Blend is their boldest expression yet. Built from rare aged whiskies and shaped by Rousteing’s unmistakable eye for detail, it feels less like a launch and more like a design moment where flavour, structure, and creative confidence all meet in the same breath.

A BLEND WITH THE CONFIDENCE OF A RUNWAY MOMENT

Johnnie Walker’s collaboration with Rousteing demonstrates what happens when two very different disciplines discover a shared language: craft, precision, and a love for detail. Whether it’s a perfectly structured jacket or a whisky built from decades-aged malts, both demand patience, vision, and mastery. From this exchange came two distinct expressions:

THE FOUR SEASONS EXPRESSION

A collectible release inspired by the natural rhythm of change. Each season is reflected through a different character, highlighting how whisky evolves over time. Crafted by Dr. Emma Walker, the expression explores the idea that creativity cannot be fixed. It shifts, matures, and develops, much like Rousteing’s own creative journey.

THE COUTURE BLEND

A limited-edition blend created as a personal milestone. Composed of ten rare whiskies, including liquid from ghost distilleries and malts aged over 40 years, it marks Rousteing’s 40th birthday in liquid form. Working closely with Dr. Emma Walker, he approached the blend as he would a couture silhouette—considering structure, depth, and proportion. The result unfolds gradually, revealing layers with confidence and restraint.

MADE TO STAND OUT

The Couture Blend draws from some of the most prized reserves in the Johnnie Walker Vault. These whiskies, shaped by decades of ageing, give the blend a sense of depth that mirrors Rousteing’s own milestone year—considered, assured, and shaped by time.

Rousteing’s influence is felt not through excess, but through intention. Every element is measured, every note purposeful. Guided by Dr. Emma Walker’s technical precision, the blend balances maturity with clarity, revealing itself slowly and leaving a lasting impression rather than demanding attention all at once.

THE ART IS ON THE OUTSIDE, TOO

Rousteing’s vision doesn’t stop at the liquid; it shows up boldly on the decanter itself. Crafted from pure crystal and trimmed with gold-plated accents, the design takes the iconic Johnnie Walker square bottle and gives it a sharper, more sculptural attitude, the kind that looks just as comfortable on a bar cart as it would on a runway. It is minimal, but definitely not shy, the kind of piece that grabs attention even before you pour the first drop.

True to Rousteing’s style, the decanter plays with duality: clean lines with a touch of drama, heritage wrapped in modern edge. With only 1,500 individually numbered pieces in existence, it becomes more than packaging. It turns into a collectible with personality, the kind of bottle that does not sit quietly on a shelf but makes its presence known.

THE COUTURE BLEND TAKES SINGAPORE

The global launch in Singapore played out like a curated journey, inviting guests to step into the world of The Couture Blend one scene at a time. It began at Spago, where the city skyline stretched beneath the glass and Blue Label couture cocktails set the tone. Between courses of scallop, truffle and rare single malts, Rousteing and Dr. Emma Walker shared the story behind the collaboration, giving guests a peek into the blend’s creative roots.

The evening then shifted to MARQUEE Singapore. Couture visuals, immersive rituals, and bespoke cocktails transformed the space into a celebration of movement and energy. If Spago was the introduction, MARQUEE was designed to bring the collaboration to life.

The next day brought the focus back to craft. Guests returned to Spago for an intimate session with Dr. Emma Walker and Global Brand Ambassador Ewan Gunn, where they explored the philosophy behind the blend and tried their hand at creating mini versions of their own.

Luxury for Those Who Like Their Stories Aged Well

This release marks a shift for Johnnie Walker Vault, one where fashion and whisky are not treated as separate worlds but as parallel crafts. Rousteing’s design-driven perspective and Dr. Emma Walker’s blending expertise meet in a shared space, proving that creativity can move fluidly between runway and rickhouse without losing its integrity.

Limited to 1,500 decanters worldwide, with just 60 available in Malaysia, The Couture Blend is made for collectors who value ideas as much as objects. From the sculptural crystal decanter to the layered complexity of the liquid inside, every detail reflects a considered approach to both design and whisky-making.

More than a collaboration, it shows how luxury can transcend category—where fashion informs flavour, and whisky carries the confidence of design. Like any meaningful work, it reveals its depth over time, rewarding those willing to slow down and engage with it.
