Move over, coffee – matcha has earned its spot as the cult favourite beverage. With matcha lattes and desserts adorning almost every cafe menu, finding the perfect ratio or the most aesthetically pleasing matcha spot can be a challenge.

As dedicated matcha enthusiasts (and quite picky ones at that!), we’ve curated a list of the top five matcha spots in Kuala Lumpur that you simply must try at least once. Spoiler alert: you’ll likely find yourself returning for more.

ONO

Forget boring, predictable cafes, ONO is where matcha goes rogue, hand-in-hand with its unexpected partner-in-crime, coffee.

Embracing the motto “where two worlds collide,” it seamlessly blends the realms of coffee and matcha. Explore innovative flavours, such as Signature Matcha x Coffee where cold brew is topped with ceremonial matcha cream and Kajyu-en Matcha Signature, featuring strawberry puree, lychee, and rose syrup. With an extensive range of matcha flavours, including three choices of matcha powders for classic enthusiasts, ONO is a haven for matcha lovers.

But what truly sets this place apart are their desserts. Don’t miss their Matcha Lava Cake, crowned with coffee Ice cream, this is a dessert that stands out as one of the best lava cakes in the city.

Renowned for their exceptional range of teas, this is more than your typical matcha latte experience. Apart from Matcha lattes, expect a range of innovative Japanese nitro teas, a perfect refreshment for warm days.
