A decade on, yet the island still feels like the beginning of something
The St. Regis Langkawi commemorates its 10th anniversary with A Decade of Exquisite Moments, a celebration that reflects not only ten years of refined island hospitality, but also the very evolution of luxury living along Langkawi’s pristine coastline. If there’s ever a reason to go all out on island celebration, this is it, because ten years is no small milestone. On 29 May 2026, the evening brought together invited guests, media, partners, and tastemakers for a multi-sensory experience that unfolded all with the view of the Andaman Sea. At the centre of it all was an exclusive seven-course dining journey at Kayuputi, paired with wines by acclaimed French winemaker Pascal Jolivet.

Since its opening in 2016, The St. Regis Langkawi has been busy shaping its own definition of island luxury. One that is defined by service, ritual, and a strong sense of place. Home to 85 rooms and suites and four overwater villas, the resort has consistently positioned itself at the intersection of St. Regis heritage and Langkawi’s natural calling. Over the years, it has become known not only for its seafront setting, but for its attention to detail, from its signature rituals to its evolving culinary programme.
If the past decade defined the resort’s identity, the anniversary evening signaled its next chapter. Guests were welcomed into St. Regis traditions, and there was nothing quite like it. The highlight of the evening was a meticulously curated seven-course menu at Kayuputi, each course designed to reflect both St. Regis Langkawi, and the flavor the island itself carries, elevated further through wine pairings by Pascal Jolivet. The night unfolded with signature St. Regis rituals, cultural performances, and a beachfront fireworks display that ever so briefly lit up the Andaman horizon at nightfall.

At the heart of the ten-year celebration is a shift taking place within Kayuputi itself. Under the leadership of Chef de Cuisine Marco Portal, the restaurant is entering a renewed culinary direction that leans a little more into contemporary refinement while remaining rooted in destination-led expression. It signals a much broader ambition to position Langkawi not only as a resort escape, but as a destination where dining itself plays a defining role in how the people experience Langkawi. The anniversary dinner with Pascal Jolivet continues this direction, showing the resort’s focus on creating experiences that bring together food, wine, and shared craftsmanship in a way that feels complete and memorable.

As The St. Regis Langkawi enters its second decade, the focus remains on refining its idea of island luxury, rather than changing it completely. “For the past decade, The St. Regis Langkawi has had the privilege of creating meaningful moments for travellers from around the world, while becoming part of Langkawi’s evolving luxury hospitality story,” said General Manager Derek Gomez. “As we celebrate this milestone, we also look ahead with renewed passion—continuing to elevate our culinary experiences, embrace thoughtful innovation, and create unforgettable moments for modern luxury travellers.”
In Langkawi, time feels like it slows down. The clocks don’t stop, but somehow every second feels longer, and in a good way. During the celebration, everything feels alive and loud. But after that, it settles. A little peace and silence fills the air and its back to just you and the sea waves crashing against the shore.
