The Taste of Ten Years: Nobu KL Unveils Its Grand Festive Omakase

A year-end feast that honours ten years of Nobu Kuala Lumpur and all who dined along the way

Nobu Kuala Lumpur closes its milestone year the way it began it — with style, finesse, and a deep respect for tradition. And as December arrives, you can’t help but wonder: what does celebration look like when you’ve already had a star-studded tenth anniversary? What does it feel like to savour the final weeks of the year in a place known for turning meals into memories?

Nobu’s Festive Omakase 2025 answers softly: with courses that unfold like scenes, flavours that invite conversation, and a journey that feels both familiar and new. It’s the year-end moment you didn’t realise you were waiting for.

A Global Legacy That Found a Home in Kuala Lumpur

Nobu’s story has travelled across cities and cultures, but it found something special when it arrived in Kuala Lumpur. What began as a collaboration between Chef Nobu Matsuhisa, Robert De Niro and Meir Teper has grown into a global name, yet every outpost feels a little different, shaped by the people who walk through its doors. When Nobu Kuala Lumpur opened in 2015, it quickly became more than a restaurant. It became a place for birthdays, reunions and quiet date nights.

A place people returned to because the food felt familiar, but the experience always felt new. And maybe that is the charm. How does a globally recognised name feel so personal? How does a decade pass by this softly? Guided by Executive Chef Philip Leong since day one, Nobu KL became one of those places you keep in mind whenever a moment deserves something a little special.

Behind the Menu: What December Means to Nobu KL

December always carries its own mood, and at Nobu KL, that feeling naturally finds its way onto the menu. After celebrating its tenth anniversary, the team began asking themselves what a year-end experience should offer. Should it look back on the decade or point toward what comes next? Should it be bold, or should it be comforting? For Chef Philip Leong, the answer sits somewhere in the middle.

With that in mind, the team revisited the flavours, textures and stories that shaped their past ten years and began building a festive omakase that felt honest to who they are today. The Festive Omakase 2025 brings together dishes that are warm, expressive and true to the heart of Nobu KL’s identity.

The Heart of December, Served in Nine Courses

The Festive Omakase begins with flavours that nudge you gently into the evening. Toro Tartare comes in cool and silky, followed by Shima Aji Tataki with a bright mix of citrus and heat. It’s the kind of opening that makes you sit up a little, wondering where the menu plans to take you next.

As the meal continues, the courses shift into slightly richer flavours. The sushi quartet brings a bright lift, while dishes like the Matsuhisa Shrimp and the Frothing Blue Crab introduce more depth and warmth to the table. You start to notice how each plate adds something new, reflecting little hints of Nobu KL’s ten-year journey without trying to say too much.

Toward the end, the flavours grow fuller and more expressive. The Chilean Seabass brings a gentle richness, followed by A5 Wagyu that feels like the natural peak of the evening. Dessert softens everything with Tonka Cheese Foam and pecan miso ice cream, leaving a warm finish without weighing the night down. Taken together, the nine courses create an experience that feels thoughtful and steady — a December feast that is unmistakably Nobu.

After Ten Years, What Does Celebration Look Like Now?

Maybe the answer is simpler than expected. Celebration doesn’t always need fireworks or grand gestures. Sometimes it’s found in the way a course surprises you, or how a flavour reminds you of something you didn’t realise you missed. Maybe it’s in the quiet moments between bites, when you catch yourself thinking about the year you’ve had, or the people sitting across from you.

At Nobu KL, celebration feels more like an invitation — to pause for a moment, to acknowledge how far the restaurant has come in ten years, and to notice how the evening unfolds with its own gentle confidence. And as you leave, you realise the real question isn’t what celebration looks like after a decade… but how it feels to be part of the next chapter.
