It all started with an invitation
Eight years ago, two young creatives were working in Pavilion KL when a colleague asked them to design a wedding invite. At the time, it was just a favour. But something about the process, the joy of storytelling through design, the emotional weight behind every detail stuck. One invitation led to another, and soon, Kami Designs was born.
The name itself holds meaning. ‘Kami’ means “me and you” in Malay — a gentle nod to the shared connection between two people in love. In Japanese, ‘kami’ means “paper” or “god,” both beautifully serendipitous considering the brand’s origins in stationery.
What started with paper has since evolved into full-scale wedding planning and bespoke gifting, grounded in intention and a sharp eye for design. Much like its co-founder and brand strategist, Jillian, who has been shaping the brand’s vision from the very beginning.
Unlike typical planners, Kami Designs doesn’t just organise, they create. Every wedding is approached like a blank canvas. From the first conversation to the final send-off, their team obsesses over the details: colour palettes, textures, typography, floral concepts, and spatial design. Everything is done in-house — from custom invitation design and printing, to the curated gift boxes and on-day styling.

What began as a side offering has since grown into a key part of the business, with many clients returning for both gifting and event needs.
