WOW Taiwan: It’s Time to Plan Your Year End Holiday

FROM KUALA LUMPUR TO TAIPEI, LET YOUR TAIWAN JOURNEY BEGIN

Still planning that year-end getaway? Or maybe you’re looking for somewhere new to explore with family or friends? Taiwan might just be what you’re looking for — familiar enough to feel at home, yet full of surprises that keep you curious at every turn.

If you’ve noticed colourful cars and buses making their way around town, that’s part of the WOW Taiwan campaign by the Taiwan Tourism Administration. It’s bringing a slice of Taiwan’s playful energy, food, and scenery right to Malaysia, giving us all a small taste of what’s waiting across the sea.

MORE THAN JUST A TRAVEL CAMPAIGN

Instead of taking the usual route of posters and travel fairs, the Tourism Administration has tried a new route, making Taiwan literally move. From buses to cars decked out in carnival-like artwork, the campaign is a cheerful mix of Taiwan’s famous icons, scenery, and food, all designed by Malaysian illustrator Jayee Lim.

The vibrant visuals feature familiar icons like OhBear, Taiwan’s friendly mascot, and Monkiddo, dressed in traditional Malaysian attire. Taking us on a journey through Taiwan’s forests, mountains, cities, and coastlines, each scene bursting with warmth, energy, and the promise of discovery.

LET THE ROADS TELL YOU THE STORY

There’s just something about catching a glimpse of these Taiwan-themed cars and if you’re scared you might miss out, there are 150 across Klang Valley and 50 in Kota Kinabalu, so if you’re in the area, you won’t miss it!

Each design on the cars and buses showcase the different travel themes inspired by the diverse experiences Taiwan has to offer.

  • Retreat2WOW is all about capturing the peace and quiet of Taiwan from the misty beauty of Alishan, to the quiet forest trails, and the comforting scents of a night market stroll with freshly brewed oolong tea, sweet potato balls, oyster vermicelli and even stinky tofu from night markets.
  • Discover2WOW takes you through the lively streets of Taipei to the tranquil hot springs of Beitou, surrounded by blooming hydrangeas, delicious bubble tea, and the buttery sweetness of pineapple cakes.
  • Adventure2WOW brings you to the island’s east coast, perfect for all the thrill seekers. From hot air balloon rides over Taitung to tribal festivals and Muslim-friendly local eats like beef noodles, beef soup and mango shaved ice.

With 150 cars across Klang Valley and 50 in Kota Kinabalu, the roads have never looked so bright.

BRINGING TAIWAN CLOSER THAN YOU THINK

If the cars caught your eye, wait till you see the buses. Across Kuala Lumpur’s busiest routes from Lebuh Ampang and Pasar Seni to KL Sentral and Menara Maybank, there’s twelve buses wrapped in these bright illustrations of Taiwan’s north, south, east, and west.

Each design celebrates the island’s charm from the hot springs and hydrangeas of the north, to tea plantations and Taichung’s modern architecture, the misty peaks of Alishan, and the Amis cultural heartlands of the east. It’s a moving reminder you have to be curious to travel and sometimes, that spark starts while you’re sitting in traffic.

WHY TAIWAN LEAVES YOU SAYING “WOW”

We spent ten days in Taiwan, and it’s one of the easiest places to get around. Beyond Taipei’s night markets and Shifen’s lanterns, the mix of city and nature feels effortless — everything is connected, whether by public transport, on foot, or by bike, which quickly became our favourite way to get around.

Taiwan is perfect for families, solo travellers, and Muslim visitors alike, with halal-certified eateries and experiences that feel natural, not staged. Whether you stick to the cities or explore off the usual tourist paths, getting around and discovering new places is simple, rewarding, and fun. It’s a place where you can follow the familiar or wander off the beaten path, and somehow, both feel equally easy.

The WOW Taiwan campaign is just a glimpse of what’s out there. Spot the cars, catch one of the buses, or plan your own trip, and you’ll quickly see why Taiwan feels so easy to explore.
